An Update on Sue Ellen

Sue Ellen is doing well! Her health remains unchanged. While she is unable to use her legs, her arms are just fine and she is capable of moving around in her enclosures. We have accommodated her rooms so she can be mobile, supporting and pulling herself on ropes and belts that criss-cross her spaces.

She very much enjoys spending time with her caregivers who visit her frequently, sharing a meal or engaging in activities with her.  She also gets lots of enrichment to play with and her caregivers make sure to add colourful streamers and tissue paper to her enclosure, which she loves to amuse herself with and wrap herself in. (You can find streamers and tissue on our Amazon Wish List!)

Health Care

Sue Ellen’s health is monitored daily and we are in constant contact with our team of expert veterinarians. The Fauna caregivers maintain daily records on her quality of life. Susie keeps a strong can-do spirit, which inspires every single one of us to provide for her as best we can. We appreciate all of your inquiries and good wishes for her. We could not do it without you and your generousity ensures we can offer the absolute best care to our senior chimpanzees.

On Giving Tuesday, consider a donation on Sue Ellen’s behalf. For our American supporters who require a tax receipt, you can donate to at Fauna Sanctuary, our affiliate nonprofit in the U.S.
