Fauna and the Jane Goodall Institute

Fauna has been affiliated with Dr. Jane Goodall and the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) from our inception, both through their ChimpanZoo and Roots & Shoots programs. Dr. Goodall has visited Fauna on several occasions, and has participated with Fauna in the filming of a documentary on the plight of chimpanzees in biomedical research.

Fauna and The Canadian Coalition for Farm Animals

The Canadian Coalition for Farm Animals (CCFA), established in 2000, consists of many Canadian animal-protection organizations representing approximately 100,000 Canadians committed to the welfare and treatment of the many millions of animals raised for food in Canada. Fauna has been a member since 2003.

Fauna and the Ruisseau Robert Natural Reserve

As of February 19, 2004 the wooded land of the Quebec Fauna Foundation territory was dedicated as a natural reserve for wildlife conservation — the Ruisseau Robert Natural Reserve. This area houses more than five kilometers of pedestrian trails, nature bicycle paths, footbridges and suspension bridges for the wetlands and brook running through the property. Ten varieties of  more than 150 birdhouses are available for occupancy.

For detailed information on the Rousseau Robert Natural Reserve visit www.ruisseaurobert.com.

Fauna and Project R&R

Project R&R: Release and Restitution for Chimpanzees in U.S. Laboratories’ (a campaign of the New England Anti-VIisection Society) mission is to end the use of chimpanzees in biomedical research and testing in the United States and to help provide them release and restitution in permanent sanctuary. While Project R&R focuses on the U.S., the only remaining large scale user of chimpanzees in the world, their goal is for a worldwide end to harmful, intrusive, and lethal research on all great apes. Gloria Grow is Project R&R Co-Chair. Visit www.releasechimps.org

Fauna and NEAVS

NEAVS advocates for the protection of animals in laboratories and for an end to the use of all animals in research through public outreach, education programs designed to promote greater compassion and respect for life, publications, and through the support of legislative initiatives and litigation intended for the protection of animals. In addition, NEAVS focuses on the development of alternatives to animal research that are better science, more humane, and ethical. Visit www.neavs.org
